The very best strength signal is in the Condor Bar, and a free signal.
In Aquarious you need to sit at a table near the Athina side to get a signal.
One of the strongest signals comes from up the Headland hill (the hill towards Arillas Bay), you can see the Ariel.
So if not too far away and facing this villa, in reasonably clear line of sight, you can pick up in a number of Locations.
Either Glen or the Guy in the Car Hire place will show you the Ariels location.
I picked up four seperate WiFi signals last year, San Stefanos travel has an encrypted one, so did the Bar 38,
but Dimitris gave me the key to log in in the bar. Just try your luck in various places.
I had no free signal from Theodosia Apts, Barras, Thomas Bay had a slow connection, outside the car hire was fine to connect.
I picked up on the Beach Ok, but just not too far along it.

Little Prince has its own free WiFi, I used to go down and use my note book before dinner while the wife got ready.

It is a strong signal as well.

Thanks for that Andy - is it from the Little Prince itself - or the Hill above it, where the main Ariel is sited??

Writing this sitting in the Little Prince bar. 100% signal at 54 Megabits. Excellent!

No signal in the rooms - but who cares? Got a G&T and a packet of blissfully cheap fags!

Will write a trip report tomorrow. Cool this morning but warming up. Off to Zorba's shortly.

I'm writing this in the Little Prince bar, where there's a 100% signal at 54 Mbits. Cannot get a signal in the room, apart from poor encrypted signal from SS Travel. Little Prince is unsecured, so you can just sit with a G&T and log on. Not that I'm doing that now, coz it's 9am!!!

You can walk to Avliottes through the o/groves. Actually 2 ways both peaceful .
One being up the lane at the side of Sidari travel (opp Athens bar) just follow the track - comes out at the old olive press , follow the road on the left to Avliottes or right down to San Stef.
The other along the beach and up past Perditas house at the end - comes out a bit further along towards Avliottes.
NOT TO BE TRIED IN FLIP FLOPS.

WiFi was the clue I believe, did you misread the topic Lizzie!! LOL

Maybe it was Fungal Hot Spots in the Olive Groves, can generate a WiFi signal, lovely - but might not get you to Facebook!!

(sorry - could not resist it!! )

sorry folks - must be the weather (we have to blame something ) affecting my fingers    It's very warm today but a storm is on the way. Next week is going to be cold , our landlord has just delivered a stack of wood .
Hope it waits for another week then i will be in Edinburgh.

Neve done wifi before -do you need to have a password or anyting from where you are at?
Title: Re: WiFi spots
Post by: Jimbo on February 18, 2011, 06:12:06 PM
It depends. You'll need the password, but usually they'll tell you what it is. If you're nice. Just don't put TonyCox as your password - I tried that and the net-book blew up.

Hi Jules - If you ask everywhere you go where there is a signal that shows as encrypted - it should remember the password for next time, once entered.
I have all the passwords saved in my smartphone, so unless changed  - it should log on in the summer when I walk in anywhere.
There are a few free WiFi spots around as well - so just check!
