Title: Flights to Corfu Summer 2012
Post by: Lesley on October 15, 2011, 03:59:20 PM
Have put this in new as couldnt find another so apoligises if already posted, but I received an alert from BMI Baby saying they start flights to Corfu from May 28th through September from East Midlands airport, so now along with Easyjet, Ryan and also Jet2 and Monarch seems plenty of choice for next summer if you are doing your own thing.  Their website being www.bmibaby.com. So thats London Gatwick, Stanstead, Luton, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and now East Midlands covered for our visitors, all a step in the right direction. Now needs some Scottish flights with good prices.

That rumour was flying around the Little Prince last night so its good to hear its true, I like East Midlands Airport despite the drive from home and Gill loves it because she can have a fag in departures.

Now where is my credit card ;)

Hmmm, just been onto the BMI Website and the flight in late July is £511 for two people with bags.

Easyjet from Luton is cheaper for the same dates.

Saw their lead in price was 68 pounds in Late May,o/w - maybe they will come down rather than up in price, when they do their research with the other non frills and be a bit more competetive, fingers crossed especailly with Easyjet now adding the Luton leg for summer 2012.

Wishing you both Andy & Gill a fab weekend despite the rain its lovely just to wind down, catch up with friends and have a good break away, so enjoy and have a fun time  (Me I'm off to do the ironing mountain that's piled up all summer as was too hot to do)....... 8)

They might have announced it but you can't get a price for flights on it yet!

Looks like BMI may get taken over by IAG (who own BA). They have a lot flights out of heathrow so it could be that IAG are buying these slots at heathrow rather than buying an airline that is losing loads of money! It could be that BMI may not be around next year.

The BMI thing is a worry, lot's of down sides to this as the big players just want take-off slots for sure.

I wanted to travel in June to Corfu, but Easyjet prices went high,
however I just found some great Gatwick to Corfu return prices in July, for around £110 - to £140 (depends on flight and day).
So very likely I will go for these if my apartments are confirmed.

Still open on dates, but not in school holidays this time, can't wait of course,
looks like I won't be able to schedule it with some of our friends though, which is a shame!

We just booked Easyjet, Gatwick-Corfu, for really silly prices, in July - can't believe it!
We always found E/Jet a good carrier as long as you play to their rules.
So cheap I even bought speedy boarding!

Paid a fair rate for the Apartment in Corfu - Very fair to the vendor, fair to me - everyone's a winner!

This to me, was a good deal overall, nice place to stay and a good inclusive deal inc. transfer and A/Con. - Happy!

Flights from Scotland are way too expensive for next Summer's school holidays, eg £1300 flight only for family of three, so alas we will do something different next year. Even the packages have stepped up too, so by the time you add on about £1800 spending then San Stef has priced itself out of the market for the facilities you get in the village.....sad as we enjoyed our 4 years there.

I'm slightly amazed that people are looking this far ahead. The financial and political crisis is still tottering on the edge of chaos. Is it clear what flight and accommodation commitments can be met in 2012 if, as seems very likely, Greece will exit the Eurozone in a few months?

Different euro/drachma whatever, prices will have to be equivalent to keep up with market forces or others like Loftyscot will go elsewhere.
I agree with Jim who is saying hold fire if you don't have a good deal, so Lofty - all is not lost yet, hold on for a few months and monitor prices.
We got a good deal looking ahead, but if not we would have waited, even booked last minute, rather than be blackmailed by price,
and if it didn't work out - plenty of places to go, and always another date available when prices are good.

just thought I would mention my experience this year regarding booking last minute.
Unfortunately we couldnt book until 3 weeks before departure I looked on the website everyday and every
time a seat on the plane had been booked or a room taken in any of the appartments in San Stef the price
went up not down. We eventually booked in the Olga appartments (which were great by the way) but we
payed well over the odds of what we would have payed had we booked early

So what if they do, they will not turn away tourists which are their biggest money spinner for them. Roll on the drachma!

That's right, they can't shut the country, people have to earn money to live, just a bit of a mess - then look at Italy - - much worse!

Hi Loftyscot, Thomsons from Edinburgh is £328 on the 20th July. We are thinking of flying from Newcastle with Jet2.com which is about £100 cheaper each. I hope the Olga do well without Thomsons,

I refused to book my flights with Thomsons as their 14 day flights from the North East are at ridiculous prices. It is now April 11th and they still want 620 pounds for 2 flights from Newcastle on the 15th June.I did not book with Easyjet as a late return to Manchester followed by a 140 mile drive is not ideal. While checking for cheaper flights today I went on Skyscanner and checked on one way flights to and from Corfu.
The outcome being I have booked 2 single flights both ways for a total cost of 356 pounds.
The strange thing is they are both with Thomson. In fact they are the same flights Thomsons want to charge 620 pounds for  two return flights.
This means I have saved 264 pounds by booking one way flights in both directions.
What a rip off world we live in.

Yesterday must have been my lucky day.
The cheapest 14 day return flight on the 15th June out of Newcastle to Corfu however booked is now with Thomas Cook. The price has shot up to 584 pounds for 2 passengers.
Remind me to do Lotto this weekend.

We were lucky this year, I paid around £360 for two people from Gatwick, with nice flight times on Ejet,
inc Speedy Boarding and the usual "EXTRA's" like suitcases - bargain it now seems. (I booked last December),
Price today is almost £200 dearer.
