Where to stay / Re: Newbie - Delfino Blu
« on: August 31, 2010, 10:01:05 PM »
Hi Debra - food is lovely although I wouldnt book on a half board basis only because there are so many other lovely places to eat. A few families who are regulars in SS that I met at the Fedra Mare this year used the Delfino for dinner for a special evening treat and loved it.

Jules - have now also fallen in love with the Fedra Mare - my brother and his wife are now eager to try SS after me going on about how great it is so we have booked 2 apartments with Dimitris again for next year.

Hi Andy

Sorry - didnt take any of the inside but if you go to the hotel website - www.fedramare.gr there are some pics on there.

Hope you have a great holiday.  Dimitris and Hari are lovely people and the hotel is so relaxing.  It is a cheaper version of the Delfino but equally as good in terms of service, space and atmosphere.   The apartments are large and have both bath and shower with lovely views across the bay.

Returning next August and cant wait.

Sarah

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Spoilt for choice?
« on: August 15, 2010, 03:31:26 PM »
Just returned and our favourites were;

Ozzy Oils   - fantastic food, great service and lovely relaxed atmosphere
Beachcomber  -
Olive Press   - choice of starters not great but the main course meats were fantastic and very tasty
Olympia  - very quiet but food and service is always great - its a shame some people avoid it because it never looks busy but food is lovely.
Little Prince - great service and good value for money
Mythica - went twice as we enjoyed it there last year - food ok but was disappointed with the quality of my dishes this year and atmosphere seemed a little tense, tried it again on our last night but was the same so dropped down in my favourites this year.

Just returned from a fantastic couple of weeks staying at the Fedra Mare - highly recommend it.
Dimitris and Hari are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. Apartments spacious and cleaned every day with fresh towels.  Lovely breakfasts and such a relaxing atmosphere.
Large pool with plenty of space and sunbeds to accommodate everyone with great views across the bay.
On the edge of the village going towards the harbour so lovely and quiet with a short walk into the village for dinner.

Cant say enough good things - and cant wait to get back there next year.

Out and About / Re: Boat hire
« on: August 01, 2010, 05:14:55 PM »
Hi
We hired a boat last summer from San Stef travel.  Boats moored in SS harbour, Noula will take you there for a few euros and pick you up again.  Boats available either half day or full day.  We had never hired a boat before but it was really easy and great fun.  Maps are on board and you can sail down to Paleo.  We moored up at a deserted cove and had a picnic and swam in the beautiful clear water - it was a great day and def recommend it.  Even saw some dolphins swimming near us on the way back.

HI

Back to SS next week and not sure what to do re Euros.  Last year I just took some cash and paid by debit card for meals etc as the ATM in SS never worked.  I never saw anywhere that could change up money so wasnt sure whether to take travellers cheques or english money as wasnt sure if this can be changed into Euros or cheques cashed easily anywhere in the resort ?

Is there anywhere ?

Where to stay / Re: Newbie - Delfino Blu
« on: July 24, 2010, 05:20:25 PM »
I used the Delfino Blu last year and have nothing but praise for it.  Every member of staff we met was without exception polite, happy and took great pride in their jobs and place of work.  The receptionist was helpful from the time of booking until the moment we left.
I am staying in another hotel in the resort this year only because I couldnt get availability at the Delfino because of its popularity but am sure we will enjoy it just as much. Delfino is number 1 for the resort on Trip Advisor so they must be doing something right.  I work hard all year round and like to have a little bit of luxury on holiday and to have such a lovely hotel in such a fantastic relaxing resort like SS is perfect. The pool area is small and just sufficient for the number of guests staying at the hotel and apartments.  Paying the rates charged by the Delfino I would expect exclusivity and to not have to battle to get space with people coming in from outside the hotel. Its not a class status just a customer service expectation which the owner is taking into consideration for his guests. There are no airs and graces at the hotel - it is just as relaxed as the resort itself and I think it is good to have the choice of various standards of hotels and can only be a good thing for the resort.

Not as far round as the Fedra.

They are plain white painted.

Hi

No they are at the opposite end of the beach to the Delfino - they are newly built last year just off the beach just at the start of the steep hill off the main road through San Stef.
Slight uphill walk but nothing major - great views and near the restaurants etc.

Hi

We stayed at the Sugar and Almond apartments for our first trip to San Stef last year. These apartments were offered via the Delfino Blu as the hotel was full and we were offered the apartments with use of the hotel and breakfast - this may be offered to you also if you are thinking of booking for the summer as the hotel is only small and gets booked up very early. The Delfino owener, Costas, takes the apartments for the summer to add to his availability.

I cant comment on the rooms at the Deflino but the pool, breakfast and staff are fantastic.  As already commented by others the only drawback was the sunbed grabbing with half the beds having towels put on before breakfast and not used until after lunch.
The public areas and pool are spotless and the staff very efficientt and friendly. Hotel is right on the beach.
The hotel does try and push half board packages - i dont recommend this as there are so many great places to eat in the resort.

I wouldnt hesitate in recommending Delfino Blu or the apartments for a little luxury but there are alternatives a lot less expensive.
