Title: Direct Holidays and Portland in 2011
Post by: tonyco1 on May 31, 2010, 02:57:55 PM
I see that Direct Holidays will no longer support San Stefanos in future, only Sidari.
I saw the other posting regarding Portland and that they go straight to Thomson for the booking next year.

TUi is tightening it's belt!!

TUI have also put the prices up £140.00 for going a week later and have put £75.00 per person deposit as well.Portland was only £50.00 per person deposit.

As i posted on here a few weeks ago, the holiday co.s will try to get their money back for the volcano probs - if demand holds off for 2011 bookings then they'll have to drop prices, but prices so far have been hiked to compensate for volcano 'losses'.

It also all depends on what you pay in the first place, from which Airport, and how much in Total!!
So many differences by Airport and flight, factor in the week you want, and one person's bargain is another's nightmare price!!

we booked with Thomson for Tereza next May, as Jules says you have to book it early to get the dates you want.  But deposit was £75 per person....however on the payment screen you choose a low deposit booking or a full deposit booking. The £75 is classed as low deposit and you then would have to pay another £75 within a couple of months and then the balance as normal a couple of months before you leave, so a bit of a con there with Thomson as well, we only ever paid £50 with Portland and then the balance.

So we paid full deposit.....£150 per person.  shame on Thomsons !!!!!

German owned - we had a massive complaint one year when things went wrong in Turkey (Side), but it was frustratingly impossible to complain and get any kind of result,
I even looked up the British Directors and sent to their houses, but after 9 months I gave up!

I must admit we have been using Thomsons for over 10 years and have never had a problem with them.
The only year that we went with another tour operator the flight was delayed by 10 hours, the room we were given at the hotel was like a shoe box and the in flight meals were horrible as was the food at the hotel.
The reps did not want to know.

we also book through thomsons & have never had a problem with them & like lilley only had a problem when we went with a different tour operator .also they fly from cardiff so that makes things easier for us (45minute drive)
