We rented 3 apartments there in the Moros about 10 years ago, good standard basic apartments.

Is it true that 2 Stars are moving there ?
If so - what is happening to the original 2Stars site.

San Stefanos news and views / Re: Beach - a hypothesis
« on: December 27, 2015, 08:34:07 AM »
I've looked this up and I think Jim & Andy are right here.
It's logical and I've heard of, in fact saw a similar thing on a beach in Goa.
Tides are fiercer there than Corfu, and usually only beach huts are erected during the "season", but a local hotel built a Restaurant out onto the beach.
The tides came right in over a year or two and a narrow hotspot occurred right up to the building.
Made me think reading this as the guys in the beach-hut next to it were saying the building caused the problem.

Information and help please / Re: Whats open.

Going on Memory it all closes down on the end of third week in Oct, but places start to close after the first week in Oct,
bit like early May in the Village. Should be enough people and places open to make it worthwhile.

have you tried medici?
I will investigate that one during the year as I already have an Annual policy - so thanks.

No  - I bought my Insurance from AllClear for a year - this includes cruises - and all of Europe.
I bit the bullet as I had to get cover and was fed up getting quotes and being knocked back for Linda.

Now I have a year to find better cover, I had quotes for single trips that meant two holidays and it was dearer.

Never mind - life goes on.

Hi Dupnica - I held back on booking - big mistake as it's now gone up.
Still looking but  two policies wouldn't give cover for Linda - Avanti and Staysure (Thanks anyway Geoff and Mary)
I can get cover from All Clear Annual European Multi-trip for £530 for us as a couple which is dear.

I had a quote for around £300 last November - but guess what can't remember which company now.

I'll keep looking and re-post if I find it

Information and help please / Re: The Islands
« on: January 19, 2015, 02:30:14 AM »
We always stay in San Stefanos, at the Romanza. Last year we visited twice, we always have a car and now book direct with the hotel. Last year we drove around a lot and saw a great deal including the South of the island and Lake Korrisson (not worth the trip if I am honest).
So this year when we visit in May, we would like to take a ferry across to the Islands off the NW coast.
We are not bothered which one, but would like information on how we:
a) get there
b) places for lunch
c) places to walk to
d) best island to visit.
Hi Jane
See Noula or one of the girls at San Stefanos Travel. http://www.san-stefano.gr/trips_boat.php
There are no bespoke ferries as such from San Stefanos, as far as I know, although Lesley who lives there may know better
However, the excursion Boats also double as a local ferry. The boats also serve Sidari.
The two most memerable trips, of the Islands are Ericusa the furthest Island away has two harbours and a heliport - a big Island so you can't walk it all in one day.
Nice Tavernas & a few small Hotels, lots of local villas and small-holdings.
I would suggest Mathraki and Orthoni - if they still run that trip as I heard it was going to be removed from the menu.
It's a two Island trip which was good value and you get to see a fair bit  of both. Nice Taverna at Mathraki Harbour and a lovely beach and church up the hill.
I hope this helps a bit
There may still be a local boat from Sidari that acts as a ferry for these two Islands, if the excursion's are cancelled.
Lesley at Corfu Selections would know this, PM her for more info.
Tony

Not much sympathy for the Hotel bullying customers - they should have invested in upgrading the Hotel instead of what is now bad publicity
