Title: Summer 2022.
Post by: WINKIE on October 08, 2021, 03:47:22 PM
Anyone booked for next summer?.

We are looking at June, our favourite month, nothing booked as yet, due to wee health issue, but fingers crossed we can return to our happy place.

Hello Winkie. I hope you are ok. We transferred our holiday, again, to early, next July. We will see how things are then.

Hello folks.  Not been on for ages due to ill health.  Booked for 3 weeks at Rose Garden for June.   Can’t wait to see Kiki and family again and all in the village.  Will be 3 years since our last visit.  First stop will probably be Yiannis Restaurant - yum yum.

Having missed this year we are hopeful that we will go probably in September next year.

One consolation for us is that we are booked to go to Nerja Spain for two months from the 20th October.

I have received today some very good news regarding a trip to the Falklands.  Along with three of my ex service buddies we have been offered flights to the Falklands in May 2022 at our cost, which will be forty years to when we were involved.  The flight is direct which is operated by the RAF from Brize Norton with a stopover at the Ascension Island for refuelling and crew change.

Two of my very best mates were killed in action along with so many others  so l am over the moon to be able to pay my respect.

I shall miss for the second time in a row the ceremony and march past at the Cenotaph this November as l will be in Spain.

We are looking to book probably the Rose Gardens for September 2022.

Sorry if this post is boring to most but I’m on a high!!!!

Not boring at all, Charlie. Lots of respect to you and to your fallen colleagues. Thanks for putting a fascist dictator in his place and indirectly helping a better Argentina to emerge.

We shall, of course, expect a trip report!

After reading all the details regarding flight information l now find that currently no flights are stopping at the Ascension Islands due to repairs on the runway but maybe available sometime next year.  In the meantime flights stopover at Dakar Senegal.

My wife always says that l don’t read the finer details.

TUI are flying to Dakar next year. Just saying.

Interesting Jimbo, we would however not risk using TUI with all the cancellations that were happening this past year.  It’s vital that we are in the Falklands for the period 26th May onwards.  The RAF flight ( Air tanker services )would almost certainly guarantee that.
Thanks anyway.

Don't worry - I wasn't really suggesting it. I can't really imagine why TUI are putting Dakar into their schedule, unless it's for the Dakar Rally. Oh - Just found this:

Quote
Head two hours down the coast from Dakar and you’ll find one of Senegal’s up-and-coming resorts – Pointe Sarene. This sleepy fishing village is getting a massive holiday makeover, with a collection of huge hotels and over 200 luxury villas being built along its six-mile-long beachfront. The crowds haven’t picked up on Pointe Sarene's potential yet, so you can be one of the first to spread out on its postcard-worthy coast.

Really looking forward to your report.

Unfortunately we will not be able to sample the delights of Dakar, the flight is 18 hours with a 2 hour stop over but we have to remain on the plane.

A very poignant trip for you Charlie, a separate report thread at the time is a must.
Ref 2022, it will be our first time for two visits in the year to AS.  We have a week at Anatoli end of May (Whit week) and then 18 days at Fedra Mare at end of July.
There is also the possibility of a third trip, the last week of August for our 30th wedding anniversary, with our two daughters and their partners. I need to find some reasonable priced flights for that first though as I am footing the bill, so nothing booked yet but Mrs BAJ keeps prodding me despite my protestations that we will have only been back home 2 weeks!

It's the prodding that gets you in the end. :)
