Where are the mythos?  Are the central?

Bit of a walk into town, via the tennis Courts, but not too bad,
not sure if you can "short-cut through" these days??

There's that road which runs along the side of Stamatis Appartments which goes about 2/3rds of the way to Mythos. It's on my to do list (very short) in a mere 24 days time to check if there's a path going the rest of the way. I can't find the link to the map with all the accomodation on it. Was it the wonderful Jules (creep creep) that posted it? It's somewhere on the site. Jules did post one but not this one.

This was posted by fillwr300 who is now at the airport - lucky feller!

I have checked google Earth and all the maps - none show a road through which would make it very local to the "main drag",
but a bit of a hike if not!!
So we need someone to tell us as a path could be there - but hidden from above by trees!!

We've walked past the Mythos apartments a few times now and they look very nice. Location is peaceful and about a 5-10 minute walk, on the flat, into the village centre. I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Should have said we couldn't see a short cut from the Mythos/Rose Gardens. If there is a path, it's well hidden. Will probably have a walk up there before we leave and will let you know.

Does this connect to the road that runs from the tennis courts to the RG & Mythos Apts?
Is is via a track between two roads?

The Mythos apartments were absolutely gorgeous!!
The apartment we stayed in had a kicthen / diner / living room downstairs with a lovely LCD tv and upstairs was the bedroom and bathroom. The fixtures and fittings were top class and the shower was amazing (had those lovely little jets which blasted your body from head to toe). The apartment was cleaned every day and new towels were also supplied daily. The old boy that lives on-site is the father of the two owners. We dealt with George (one of the owners) and he couldn't do enough for us. We bought the air-conditioing for the week at a cost of €35 and he asked us whether we would like the use of the safety desposit box free of charge  :o Of course I took him up on his offer!  ;D

They also own a restaurant in Sidari, which trades under the "Mythos" name too.

All-in-all, a beautiful quiet apartment with a lovely pool.
I'd recommend it to everyone.

They sound great!!

We are booked to go in September. We have a split level apartment - are these with a balcony or are they the low ones in the middle with the windows above?

Pleased to hear about the towels. Where we were staying last week we only got the towels changed once in the whole fortnight. Had to wash them ourselves in the shower!!

They are in a lovely location. Not too far from the centre to walk, but lovely and quiet through the day.

Yes, if you have a split level apartment (as we did), you have a lovely terrace from the bedroom.
If you're in apartment 3, be kind to it as I class it as mine now!!!  :D

Thanks Belgianram,

However, I am still a bit confused, do the split level apartments have a Balcony from the upstairs bedroom?

Last week we spent ages outside the Mythos trying to work out whether the split level apartments were the ones with a first floor balcony or the ones with the curved roof and little upper windows, I think the owner thought we planning to rob the place we were staring at it so long!

I know it sounds daft but the wife loves a balcony rather than a ground floor terrace, not that she is fussy of course!!

Cheers,

Andy

Let me try again!!  ;)

The apartments that look like mini houses have a balcony leading from the bedroom upstairs.
The apartments that have the two strange little windows do not have a balcony. Infact, they are just one big room, kitchen / diner / bathroom and bed in the same room.

If I was you, I'd ensure that you get one of the "little houses".....  8)

I booked using a friend in the know.
She booked my flights through Thomas Cook then independently booked the apartments, through the Corfu Escape web-site I presume.

Good to have a travel agent as a friend!  8)

Just to let you know, the Mythos apartments are now on the books of Thomas Cook, so pretty much all bookings will be taken up by them.

Liking the look of these apartments too, Corfu Escape states on their website there are 6 studios but Thomas Cook say there are 8. On the Corfu Escape website it seems that they are only suitable for a couple or with kids under the age of twelve sleeping on the sofa beds on the ground floor, but when I priced with Thomas Cook online they have costed it for three adults.  Is there sleeping facilites for three adults.? (Daughter is 14 so now counts as as adult).  Still confused by the balcony situation!! Do the maisonettes with the upstairs balcony also have the terrace on the ground floor?  Also, how far and how easy to reach is the beach from the Mythos?  Is there lighting on streets leading into the centre of San Stefanos or would it be a torch job at night?  Thanks.

We have stayed here quite a few times, we were one of the first ones to use them via the family that own them.  There are 4 Apartments which have 2 floors, ground floor you have kitchen, table chairs, 2 x sofas (which I think go into beds), flat screen tv and terrace.  Upstairs you have a lovely bathroom with Jacuzzi shower, lovely bedroom with balcony.  There are 2 blocks, the apartments are each end with studios ground floor in the middle - the studios are lovely too - loads of room.  The pool is never busy - may be you will be on your own some days - lovely.  The family are great - including mum, dad and the 3 brothers - all make you really welcome and always make sure you are ok.  The apartments are across from the 'rose garden' apartments which has a bar and serves food - if you want somewhere near to go to.  Otherwise we would say the nearest supermarket is 5 min walk - Paradise (also restaurant) - then you keep walking through the resort - the beach is probably about 15 min walk. You wont need a torch - all lit u at night.  If you book - we are sure you wont be disappointed.  Its very private and quiet.

Sorry about this BUT..... "Nearest Supermarket 5 minutes walk ... Then you keep walking through the resort" ??   This is a left turn.... This is away from the resort unless you want Arillas!!

Yes - just a 'Technicality' , walk up the road to tennis courts (on right),
turn left at this "T" junction, - it's a 15 metres walk to the shop just before the Paradise Taverna.
Or turn Right at the Tennis Courts for the main resort, 5 mins away - 10 mins to beach sounds right to me!

It all depends how many Ram it is!!!!! Also being Belgian it is fuelled by superior Chocolate and far superior Beer. These two elements combined are the secret formula set to overtake rocket fuel and baked beans as a means of propulsion!

Great move though naming your apartments after beer. You'd never forget where you're staying!

Depends, though, on how fit you are in 100 degrees, and if your a tub of lard like me! and we Brits tend to be lardies.....,anyway,  there's a steady incline down,[so remember that going back its a steady incline up!] then a steep bit of around 40 yards - oh and dont forget to look at the Terrapins by the bridge over the stream on the right hand side, and Alex the horse in the field whose owner is the attractive girl who works in SST,so thats about 3 minutes to there, then, as Tony says turn right at t junction and SAY another 12-15 minutes to beach passing through part of the resort on the way.
A pleasant stroll is to turn right coming out of Mythos and going for a 100 yard walk up the lane,an actual residential bit with nice gardens.

Could someone who's seen the Mythos apartments lately comment on the upkeep of the gounds and pool area.  Read somewhere that it seemed a bit overgrown, but don't know old that report was.  Don't fancy lying in amongst weeds and all!!  Is there a bar on the premises, also read conflicting views on that?  ???

The lawns look...ok, not overgrown but not Wimbledon either...we never saw the bar open, but then I wasnt particularly keeping an eye on it either. The apartments looked a bit narrow from outside, but I didnt go inside...personally I prefered the look of the Rose Garden , certainly liked them, but as with all these things a case of "suck it and see" I guess

The bar is used as the cleaners store room. Good idea for all alcohol selling premises. All good chapel goers will agree or there will be fire and brimstone along with eternal damnation in the valleys tonight. So said the Jones the Reverend!

When I stopped on the Quad bike to check them out on wed 15th July'09, a couple of days before I returned to the gloomy UK,
they looked well groomed, but quiet - no one at the pool that day.
The Rose Gardens is a really nice looking place with a decent bar, just opposite.
Both Apartments seem quite well fitted out, which often happens when they are a bit of a stroll away from the main drag!

Now then, I've kind of gone of the Mythos. No vino, no goodo!  Wish I hadn't had a right good look around the Delfino Blu website. Well nice!!  Tried to convince myself that the interior of the Mythos would give me a better holiday. But really, it does seem a wee bit away from the beach for our liking. Beach looks so nice, it'd be a pity not to be able to see it.  Teresa, another of our choices doesn't seem to be available on a self catering basis for the time we fancied next July. Keeps throwing up b & b. (We also like a nice view from balcony).  As I said before, champagne taste, beer income, anywhere else to be recommended?

Sunlover, I can recommend the Apartments we stayed in via San Stefanos Travel this July.
Theodosia Apts. Fairly New-build,  No Swimming Pool, but not necessary as you can use any pool in the resort except delfino's.
they have Ground, 1st and 2nd floor Apts. Air Con if required.
Try to get sea facing apartments as the view is there and a nice breeze on a hot day!
They are located in between the Olympia Restaurant and Pele & Maria's shop (Newspapers - 2 mins up the road from the Little Prince), very central - close to the beach - no killer hills!

Dale & John, we stayed in Nondas Apts. about 10 years ago.
Loved them, great bar & Bistro restaurant (Elphita), now has a Swimming pool. Quiet and pleasant!!
Downside - it's a 5 min trek up ''killer hill'' as I call it, but you do get used to it after a while, just tough in hot sun!
Nondas and his Son Dimitri are great hosts!
Nondas Apts. are situated up above and behind the Theodosia Apts. and immediately below Tsaros Pool Bar up the Hill,
towards the "Arilas -Headland".

Thanks to all for replies.  Like the look of all recommded from the San Stefanos travel, but I've now priced some flights and they seem expensive for three of us, making the overall holiday coming out at over £2000.  (A wee tad too much for a self catering hol).  Any reports regarding Perros Hotel ? ???

Angelo' Aps offer free aircon and pull down mosi nets too, they belong to the Waves and I believe they have other less expensive aps.

Nondas has "oxygenated pool" .. good for kids and the hair, extremely good priced apts and Spiros' cooking and presentation are unique...and need to be experienced-- Kip loves his chips. The aura of the place is as it was ten years ago, all there very enjoyable.

Both families are wonderful and look after you extremely well as is the norm in SS 8)

Almost forgot the Olympia Res has aps too. Actually, there are many more, such as Theo and Sofi--family of the Thomas Bay but up the hill, so might need transportation, view to die for and caring family; in addition on this side of town there is Vangellis behind Nafsika Hotel, Kamini aps, Makay aps, Marina aps opposite our shop and manage by Tilly, Christinas-Manthos' daughter and many many more!!!! sure SST has a good list also.

There should be something to suit all pockets and in these difficult times one should be able to start bartering!!!!

Last year a collegue booked all his hols for the year at Christmas with Easyjet, some for as little as as 70 Euros return; this is great for those who are sure of their hols dates and compensates for the aps cost.

Good luck

Thanks everyone, just to clarify that it's the flights that are expensive and not the actual accomodation.  Regarding the Perros Hotel, which does look nice on website, is it 'up a hill', and far from the beach?  We usually fly out from Newcastle, and the likes of Easyjet dont fly to Corfu from there. :-\

Hi Sunlover
If you don't mind flying from other locations providing they are not too difficult to get to, sometimes you can find some very good deals.

Our colleague who booked cheap Easyjet flights lives in Wales and fly from Bristol but previously had to do the Gatwick run. We live in Warwickshire and most definately always choose to fly from Birmingham but often go from Gatwick, Stanstead, Manchester because we have very good and cheap connections to these destinations. On the other hand some of our friends will only go from B'ham to Corfu

Another friend recently got a flight to Manchester from Corfu for 46 Euros and was picked up from there to Leeds.

We hope that you find something reasonable and look forward to meeting you wnen you get to Corfu. 8) cos the sun is waiting for you!!!!!
