Title: Christmas..ho!ho!ho!
Post by: Karen on December 17, 2021, 07:25:33 PM
So it will soon be here! Hope you've all been good, so that you receive some lovely presents!

Just wondering what you all will be doing. I'm sure we will all be conscious of keeping safe, but I hope you all have a  very merry yuletide! :)
My 92 year old Dad will join us for Christmas lunch, that way I can keep him relatively safe and he'll be ready for home  by 4pm! So I guess John and I will have a quiet evening, with a bottle of wine, in front of the TV!

I think they call it a "cheese and wine" occasion for 12 ;D  Okay we may substitute the cheese bit for a few sprouts etc.... Oh and there are masks in your crackers and lft as starters. Covid permitting of course ::)

I've effectively moved in with 85 year old mother to provide full time caring duties whilst working from home (well her home to be fair) but hopefully taking her over to my sisters on Saturday for a long overdue family gathering

Hope everyone manages to enjoy the Festive break.

Stay safe

I would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas.   For most of us it probably won't be what we would wish for but we just have to make the most of it and I am grateful that I still have my family and friends around even though I can't see them all yet.  Take care everyone and stay safe  ;D

Well, it can't get much worse. Two funerals, and just heard that a really lovely man I worked with at Radio Humberside has died of smoke inhalation after a fire at his house. Gillie's had an eye injection that left her in agony for three days. One of my friends of over forty years' daughter, who was buddies with our kids, died at the age of fifty-something. My elder daughter is feeling very ill with Covid symptoms and waiting for PCR test results. My son says they'll probably have to close his pub because they have zero customers. My step-son has damaged ligaments and has been off work for six weeks and can't do the gigs that were scheduled, and even if he could the rest are unlikely to happen.

FFS, Santa. Pull your finger out!

Sorry to hear things are not going too well at the moment Jimbo. Hopefully we all wake up from our nightmares very soon!

Oh Jim and Gillie, so sorry to hear of all of your troubles.

Don't worry. I'm feeling grumpy because I have a very painful shoulder. No physios are available. A phone call with a doctor merely suggested taking Paracetamol.

So I'm more "Oh, oh, oh!" than "Ho, ho, ho!"

Omicron may turn out to be Santa's best gift, so I'm not despondent. Just a moaning old bugger!

Jimbo, have you tried Cuprofen, a strong Ibuprofen? Available from Boots. It really helped me a couple of years ago when I had a frozen shoulder, before I could get to see the physio. Sorry for your losses and other issues, and hope 2022 is kinder.

Someone out there is due a very expensive gift here (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-59476869) (warning BBC link) from Santa! Near on a $ a year, so is it worth $10bn?
