Glad I changed my booking from TUI to Jet2 for august flying from Edinburgh as so far so good for 5th august 🤞🤞

Well that was short lived. Yes it’s 2.10am Scottish time and I can’t sleep as Jet2 just cancelled flights from Edinburgh/Scotland for 5th August!!!!!! Why they allowed us to check in and encourage buying tests is beyond belief. !!! Will be contacting them tomorrow for some sort of explanation.

I think the fate of regional hubs is very much in the balance, unfortunately. I would rank Edinburgh as far higher in the importance stakes than Newcastle or Leeds. As a capital city, it's hardly even regional! Mind you, closing a base does not mean the extinction of service: just no planes and crews sited there. It takes 20 minutes to fly a plane in from Glasgow to provide a flight.

That’s true Jimbo, hopefully services will still be available.

Just read online that TUI are closing their base at Edinburgh next year, shocking if true  >:(.

We are already booked for June 22 from Edinburgh with TUI for Little Prince ! Why would the capital of Scotland need TUI !!! Ridiculous if true Winkie x

I am here  just now and it is a tad warm,41 degrees yesterday but you've got to be sensible. People are still pegged out on the beach in the full sun,if it was inflicted on them as a form of torture they'd be begging for mercy.
Good news is it's going to drop down to about 33 for the rest of the week.

Have a great time and give our love to all in SS. Still working out a way to get there this year 😎

Oh well, that's us rescheduled from 2nd July to July 2022. And I believe we moved our dates just before TUI cancelled the flight anyway from Aberdeen. Hubby's just asked this morning if we should book to come over during the school holidays in October. We've never been to SS that late on in the year so wonder if it will be open for us tourists then, or will they have given up on the season by then and closed up?

We were cancelled from TUI for 2nd July from Edinburgh but our friends from East Midlands still going !!! So no flights from Scotland until 9th July ?? Not fair or what? Still will keep trying to get to SS no matter what.

I will give you all a wave at about 8pm (Greek time).  Yes, my wife and I are here.  We arrived yesterday.  The village is eerily quiet but still wonderful.
Good for you … enjoy wish we were there  xxx

Out and About / Re: Well, what do you think?
« on: February 03, 2021, 01:39:00 PM »
Hello everyone, I hope all OK out there.
Now as the title implies I am throwing open a question to you all.  Am I mental (let me finish please), being foolish, or is it because I want to bloody look forward to something?  Oh the reason I ask those questions is because I have actually gone and booked my flights to Corfu!  Yes I've done it.  They are booked for the wife and I for the 10th June.
I do realise I am going to get different responses but that is exactly why I am asking you.  I want to know what you think and why.  I'll go first.  First of all I am hoping for some normality to resume by June (fingers crossed).  Secondly is for some reason I think once restrictions relax then there will be an almighty dash for flights to various destinations and therefore prices will go through the roof.  Most of all though is what I said earlier, I just want something to look forward to and dream of beautiful San Stefanos.  Over to you.   :)

We are also optimistic, booked for 4 weeks from 16th June. We did book it last June after our June holiday was cancelled and got a good price. See you there! 🤞🤞

The photos showing on Social Media were taken at 08.30 in the rain - in fairness even high season not much is open at 08.30 - so roll on a few hours, the sun came through and the place looks lovely again.  There is plenty open for those still coming out for the last 2 weeks of the season - do remember people live here all year round and don't go hungry or thirsty - of course not the same amount of places as 'high season' however again there is not the volume of visitors to warrant this - same for any seaside place really (thinks Southend, Clacton and other UK beaches)...... This is a great time to explore further than the high road - a walk towards the port will take you to Olympia, Zest for Life, Yasameni Cafe, Manthos or turn left and head up to Arillas , passed Town Pizza & Barola our first stop Nikolettas coffee shop before going down into Arillas beach area - a variety open there.  We went to Arillas Recycling Centre yesterday and popped into a friends hotel for a frappe in Arillas, back over then to Agios Stefanos for a wine at El Greco, Barras had visitors around the pool and their restaurant also open as was the Bakery, the Station Market, Express, Condor and Vasia's shop. As we drove home Yiannis kebabs was pretty busy.  Barola and Barras close this Thursday.  I didn't go to the beach but saw Havana's is still open and as today the sun is shining again and a mild 23c sure there will be a few more strollng along the sand.  Margarita's suites along with Teresa's, Romanza, Thanasis and a few other private apartments still have guests in resort.......... so whilst there are guests there will be a selection of eating and drinking establishments staying open.....
Thanks Lesley for great update! Makes me want to go back right now!!!! Enjoy your winter, it will be much better than ours in Scotland and our crazy lockdown restrictions. Xx

Isn't Scottygirl there now? Is she actually from Scotland?
Yes we are here and having a great time and yes from Edinburgh. Shame about quarantine but still more than happy to be here.
Apart from things closing at 12 it feels like a pretty normal Sept. weather cool at night not much need for air conditioning in my opinion.
Food and service been great everywhere so far. Some restaurants busier than others but they are all so happy to see you.
Barras tonight so that’s always good.
Like everyone we have our favourites. Little prince, Barras, 2 stars, waves and Olympia. Best drinks in little prince.
Well off to beach now to top at the tan. Xx

Hello from San Stefanos 😎
We have been here since 28th August and it’s pretty much business as usual. A couple of places not open but unless you regularly visited these places previously you wouldn’t know as so many open. Everyone pleased to see you. Everything closes at midnight but that works ok too.
Lots of people around and plenty things going on. Apart from wearing masks in shops and supermarkets it’s just like any other time we have been. They are trying really hard constantly sanitising tables etc to make you feel safe. Let’s hope Boris doesn’t do anything drastic. Enjoy your time here. We are here until 11th.
