Have found a backpack type bag on ebay which is 50x40x20 Easy Jets new sized bag. Have bought 2 as we don't intend taking cases when we return in September, just hand luggage.
-
The old size,56cmx45cmx25cm,is still allowed on board space permitting.
-
While on the subject, will I be allowed to have my normal handbag as well as my little suitcase? Or do I need to put my wallet etc in my case so I'm just carrying one thing? Not taking hold luggage for our mini break in October.

The answer is no, you are only allowed one item of hand luggage, it depends on how fussy the check in operative is though.
Just put your handbag in the little suitcase before check in and remove it directly after check in, alternatively, put the handbag around your neck and keep the handbag out of view, i.e. under a coat or on your back.

you can - but it's not guaranteed unless you are: Quote from Easyjet website:
"easyJet plus cardholders, FLEXI fare, easyJet plus Upfront or Extra Legroom customers, can continue to bring ONE piece of cabin baggage no bigger than 56 x 45 x 25cm including handles and wheels – and use easyJet plus Speedy Boarding to board first in order to secure space in the overhead lockers".
Once the overhead lockers are full they will put your handluggage in the hold, unless it's the smaller size, which can fit under the seat.
