Title: Thomson 2013
Post by: Bristle Boy on April 29, 2012, 02:19:48 AM
Thomson 2013 now online if anyone is interested. Not sure when they went live. Only noticed this evening but i think i looked a few days ago and certainly wasn't online then.

Thinking of returning in June 2013 - last visited SS in June 2010 when we flew with Ejet and stayed at Fedra Mare. To be honest i'd prefer to do that again but the Ejet flight times from BTL are rubbish.
If we do come in 2013 i think we'll do a Thomson deal at Teresas - fly from Birmingham - good flight times.
I could book today but my wife is constrained by work from booking early.
we'll see.

Just looked at Thomson website and prices seem a lot more expensive than this year (over £200 more than what we paid this year booking in September), typical Thomson!
However prices are often dearer when they first come on line and I think it is worth monitoring them for a while before booking as they may well come down after the initial early rush of bookings, lets hope so anyway.

I noticed Thomson prices seemed to have shot up for 2013. In the past have noticed they sometimes come down around August bank holiday.  Once booked then for 2 holidays one in Ag Stef and one in Thassos and saved £650 from brochure prices.  Not sure if that could happen now though.

Thassos is lovely, we've only been once but the scenery is terrific.

This is the usual Thomson marketing ploy!

For Teresa they are already saying only 2 rooms left for when we normally go. I don't believe that if the brochure has only just come out

Could be the Greek 'situation' has a lot to do with it, as prices have increased by around 17% it was stated in The Telegraph by a respected expert.

Again - Thomsons always do this practice.
I booked for last year the previous October, it said either only 2 rooms left / only 3 rooms left, depending on the room type.

I then noticed that this message was always on the site, for the following 6 months!!

Do not worry -  it's not true!! Just a Marketing ploy to rush you into booking early!

Thomsons have done this for many years now!!

I see that Thomsons are up to their old tricks on avalable rooms. They are now being even more devious to keep within the law. They are advertising the Thomas Bay as only 2 rooms of this type left. When you go into the website you find they are rooms without a balcony. If you want a balcony it is 2 pounds a night/person extra and there are lots of them. From memory I believe the hotel only has 2 rooms with no balcony
Dishonest or what.

The travel industry is not exactly noted for its transparent honesty!

Still - TUI's profits are helping to keep the Euro afloat for a bit longer. Mind you, the Italians are teetering on the brink of bringing the whole thing down.

I checked out a few Thomsons Options yesterday - in every case, in every accommodation, it was only one or two rooms of this type left, for end September!!!
They also offer exactly the same description for another room at an extra charge, and you are correct Yannis,
only two rooms without a balcony overlooking frog stream at Thomas Bay.

With Thomsons - if you want a balcony - make sure it say's so - they always try to off-load the rough rooms first...

Thomson flight from Cardiff on 19th July (Friday) is £418.92!!!!!!!!!! per person - great time though. Ejet from Bristol the same day currently quoting £348 each - crap time though.  Last year we flew with Thomas Cook on a Monday from Bristol for £255 each.  What's happended to the prices???

This is giving me a headache trying to think of where I'm going to get the extra money from. My sons found work so maybe I'll up his rent LOL.

I also noticed that the website prices can differ by as much as £100 per person on certain days. They went up on boxing day and on the Aug bank holiday and then back down again. They seem to be steady and at the best price around mid month. They're often around £20 pounds more just around payday.

They also always usually say only one / two etc rooms left and offer an extra discount - often only for 24 hours or the weekend.
so keep checking . . . .
