Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Yiannis Grill (opposite Athens Bar)
« on: September 03, 2014, 09:20:43 PM »
Agree. We always try and eat at Yiannis at least once or twice during our stay. If you go back a few years he was working out of Yiannis restaurant near Tasty Corner. It also works out well if the Athens Bar have live music or football. Just to pop over for a bite to eat and take the food back into the Athens bar. The guys their do it all the time  :)

I was going to post a new topic about Corfu Town, but came across this one and have found some great recommendations, thank you.

In just under 5 weeks we return to Corfu and before we make our way to San Stef we've decided to spend 3 nights in Corfu Town. Therefore we've been looking for some restaurant ideas and so far I'm going for these:

Mouragia:

Bellissimo:

Thanks all.

Had a further update from Nicola today: the one bedroom apartments have one a/c unit and the two bedrooms have two a/c units. As mentioned my dibully, the price is 5 euros per unit per night.

Where to stay / Re: Corfu Town & Jasmine Apartments

Hi rilo57,

We'll be there on Monday 15th September for 2 weeks.

Yes, been looking on Tripadvisor/booking.com and quite like the look of Aquis Mon Repos Palace. Also found a few hotels over by the port/new fort, but they're not getting the best reviews due to noise.

Thank you.

Richard.

Where to stay / Corfu Town & Jasmine Apartments
« on: June 02, 2014, 02:12:26 PM »
Good morning all.

Well, we've gone and booked up again and this year we're going to try the Jasmine Apartments next door to the Perros. But, we're going to stay in Corfu Town for 3 nights before heading over to San Stefanos and we're just looking at hotel options in Corfu Town.

Does anyone have any good hotel recommendations in the town, I'd be very pleased to get your views, before taking a punt.

Thanks all.

Yammas!!

Hi gaynor,

Whilst we've stayed at The Perros many times, we've never paid for air con. We normally try and adjust to the heat, so that it's not a big difference between the rooms and the outside temperature. I've just dropped an email to Nicola and Anna at the hotel, so we'll get an update soon for you.

Kind regards,

Richard.

Re. Perros Curries:

Well, we can certainly recommend Stefanos' curries, he does a mean Lamb Madras or Vindaloo. If you like it hot, just ask him for extra fresh chilies, they have a few chili plants around the pool and he'll happily harvest a few for you. Also, go for the pita bread option, it's almost like naan bread!!

For anyone considering the Perros Hotel for next year, they've now released a few rooms with Cosmos for 2014, so you can now book a package for the first time in many years. The pricing at the moment is coming out more expensive than booking a DIY package, but worth keeping an eye on it.

2 weeks tomorrow for us  ;D

Just need to get a camping weekend behind us and then we can get the cases ready. Need to sort out a couple of new shirts at least, otherwise the holiday photo's just look the same as last year!!  ;)

Hi Carl, Good to hear from you, hope you and the family are keeping well.

We've had a few nice meals at the Sunset, the food was always good, but the taverna usually quiet. We also noticed they'd scaled back last year as well. Elvinos is one we've always meant to try, but never get a good feeling when we get there. It was the same with Delifino Blu until last year; we did venture in and whilst the setting is very nice and the service spot on, we felt it was lacking a certain something that other more laid back places have in abundance. We will try Evinos again this year, well at least get as far as the menu boards again!! :)

Information and help please / Taxi for San Stef
« on: July 19, 2013, 04:40:27 PM »
Good afternoon all.

My good lady and I are returning to San Stef overnight between Friday 6th & Saturday 7th September and as we've booked direct we're looking for any other like minded holiday makers that might like to share a taxi to San Stef.

From looking at the link above it looks like Cerys at San Stef Travel is the best option and I'll definitely send them an email, but is anyone else due into Corfu Airport around 1am that might want to share the costs?

Thanks all.

Hi Chris, I'm sure you'd be welcomed at all of the hotels mentioned and can gurantee an 'open arms' welcome at our favorite The Perros. I agree about the travel companies monopoly on some hotels and is the main reason we choose to book independantly. Although with the lack of flight options from brum this year we normally revert back to the usual companies for thier flights. But. at least this way the locals get a better deal. Good luck.

We weren't staying at the Thomas Bay and there was a small charge for a court for an hour (5 euros I think). They also hire racquets as well for a small charge, if you need the extra baggage allowance  :)

Hi Em,

We did something similar a couple of years ago. Aparently the guy how is is the apartments directly opposite has rackets for hire and can give you access, but he was never around when we were there. So, we ended up using the court at the Thomas Bay Hotel. Its not a full size court and the net was very saggy ;), but it was good fun for an early morning game  ;D

Good luck and enjoy.

Richard.
