That is too true.

I'm fortunate because the work I do is more fun than doing nothing. It has its tedium like anything else, but everything is a new challenge. I don't have to take orders from anybody, and I can work at any time of the day or night, or not at all. Which, often, makes it harder!

Oh pitta Souvlaki,

warm and delicious.

Pork or chicken with tomatoes,

onions and abundant tsatsiki!

Lots of fries and don´t forget the convenient prize:

two euros for delight, its clearly the Greek highlight!

Last time we were in Caleta we had a good Greek, a good Indian, a good Chinese and a good Mexican. Also good "international" cuisine of the sort to be found in all Spanish resorts.

O.K. we havent quite driven all the way from the UK but will be arriving in San Steph tomorrow after a short drive from Kassiopi :D

Gill and I have spent the last week in a lovely Villa in the small resort of Avlaki near Kassiopi and it has been wonderful. We arrived on Saturday 11th September after a 3 hour delay with Easyjet, it seems bad weather in Tenerife had delayed the planes departure.

After arriving in Corfu we spent 2 nights in Corfu Town before driving to Avlaki on Monday, luckily our hotel was close to the Airport as it was 3am by the time we arrived. Corfu Town was great, even though we have been many times we always discover something new, we even managed to get lost in its network of narrow streets. On Sunday afternoon we sat on the Liston watching the young beutifull people walk by then watched cricket on the Esplanade, the whole atmosphere was wonderful. In the late afternoon we visted one of the back street Taverna's for an early dinner before retiring to bed to catch up on some much needed sleep.

The drive from Corfu Town to Avlaki was a joy and we stopped off at Barbati for a coffee break.

The weather during the past week has been amazing with clear blue skies and temperatures between 26c to 28c in the afternoon, we have discovered some great Taverna's locally including one at Old Perithia recommended by Rick Stein, the Onion Pie was fantastic.

Prices this side of Corfu are higher than in SS but the food is excellent, we have enjoyed some great Meze's.

So its off to SS tomorrow where we are staying at the Fedra Mare, looking forward to meeting all the usual people and enjoying more of the great Corfu sun.

I hear the weather back home has turned a bit Autumnal, if so get on a plane and come to Corfu, summer is still here and the water is lovely ;D

Andy
Thought of the two of you yesterday when we had to buy a new seat. Pity we can't be there too. Enjoy it and say Hi to Dimitri, Pipina et al.

It would be so boring if we all liked the same. I always find the most hyped ones the most disappointing. I would never say this is the best/worst.
The criteria used by people is too personal. How many choose the best as the one that their "friends " run?
Then people choose their "best" because circumstance, company whatever made it memorable on that particular day. This clouds judgement.

Where to stay / Re: just a quickie re the Vicky!

The cats would put me off. Have enough of them at home. Sunday mean't half a Tesco bag of poo before the lawn could be cut. From 01.30 this morning was next doors cat crying non-stop until 05.55 this morning. How does the neighbour not hear it. Wasps? Man just swipe them.
Couldn't and wouldn't do it to a cat.

Still things you can do, but mostly, the bad weather is kept over Corfu Town by the nmountains,so often the forecast is wrong in a nice way!

Information and help please / Re: Kapetanios
« on: September 09, 2010, 02:13:34 AM »
It all depends on where from the sea you are looking from.....,., As simplest (to me) way of looking ... Start at Barras... walk towards Thomas Bay, carry on passed Aspa , Sunset , Olga. Up towards Teresa - go round first hair pin bend and a few metres past Teresa,, Well below Romanza................ Hope this helps?
