simonE:
Can any of the long standing forum members help with a query my wife and I have regarding a now defunct taverna located on the Arillas road.

When we first holidayed in San Stefanos we stayed at the Perros Hotel and frequently ate in the evenings at the taverna directly opposite. It had a small supermarket attached and on some nights had Greek dancing complete with fire and plate smashing. This would have been 1999. We remember a young lad from Yorkshire was waiting tables that year.

Can anyone tell me the name of the restaurant and when and why it closed please?

hippopots:
The taverna was called The Paradise.

I don't know why it closed, but I do know the 'young lad from Yorkshire' was Glenn, who owns Aquarius Bar, next to Athina Hotel!

Having been empty for a long time, this year the building is being used as a base for the family's business, which is pool chemical supplies.

Tredegar Boy:
On our first visit to San Stef back in 2004 we stayed at Rose Gardens and the Paradise was our first evening meal. It was a Saturday with Greek dancing and a plate to smash for my 6 year old son. We also used the supermarket a lot. We went back to Rose Gardens in 2006 but I think the Paradise was shut by then - memory's a bit vague on that to be honest.

benson:
It was / is owned by the very lovely Stefanos who was the breakfast / lunch waiter at Nafsika.
He still owns it and this year he and his brother are running a pool maintenance business from those premises.

Gavlah1973:
It was still open in 2010 on our first visit.
We we're up at Romanza so didn't visit.
Think that was the last season
