Hope so Aline - we arrive on Monday night! We have had quite enough rain in the UK here this week!

Looks like SS copped it yesterday with that storm, today there is not a lot of room for sun beds because it is so wet.

Perfect weather here in Agios Stefanos. The sky is blue and the sea is like a millpond. Temperature still in the high twenties. Who could ask for more.
There are still plenty of people around, mostly the older generation, and the tavernas are still busy.
Not too many wasps either as I think they harvested the grapes earlier this year .

The doughnut man has been on the beach every day since we arrived last Sunday. I have been told he employs more doughnut men on other beaches. But most surprising of all he owns a coffee shop and restaurant in Corfu town :o

While we were in Agios Stefanos last week we were told that the reason for closing the supermarkets at 9 o'clock was to deter the youngsters who holiday in Kavos and similar  resorts from tanking up on cheap alcohol.
The law only applies to Corfu and not to mainland Greece or the other islands.

Surely you can have local laws to suit local needs. If the issue is a Kavos one just have the law for that area/resort. Why harm the rest of the island? Strange

Hi everyone,

as I see you are getting quite worried about the supermarkets ordeal, I just wanted to let you know that they are closing again late...
A similar situation happens every year; for one reason or another the police dig up some ridiculous law and start going around "collecting" money. A few days later everything is back to normal.
Greeks are rebellious - it's in our DNA. Do you think this absurd law is going to stop people running their businesses as usual? I don't think so! :)

A bit like the ridiculous law they dug up last year banning businesses from having illuminated signs outside.

Probably because the weather isn't too good, or they could be nursing hangovers from the Arrilas beer festival which is taking place just now.
