Whats happenin'
hippopots:
An earlier than usual update on this gloriously hot and sunny day.
Some of you will have already seen the following on facebook, but Shane from Zest for Life has also asked me to write it on here, so as many people as possible can be told his and Sandra's news.
So, in his own words;
' After 7 happy and successfu years of running 'Zest For Life' juice bar, Sandra and and Shane have decided to 'hang up our aprons' and retire!
As our future plans include travelling Australia in a caravan, decorating our present home for sale and scaling down to a smaller property....after peeling thousands of oranges and buttering loads of baguettes, and baking countless batches of scones and home made cakes.....and engaging in many friendly conversations and good natured banter about cricket and rugby, it's time to say Goodbye!
Of the hundreds of loyal customers and friends we have made, we will take away many fond memories and will cherish forever our San Stefanos days.'
I spent an hour or so chatting to Shane and Sandra yesterday afternoon over a frappe, and they are very excited about this next chapter in their lives. The travelling is something they have wanted to do for a while, and now is the right time for them to do it!
They were 2 of the first people we met here. When we came on holiday to Arillas in 2011, one day we walked across the headland and arrived at the juice bar gasping for a drink. During that holiday, and our subsequent trip that Sept, we had many a coffee at the juice bar, and told them of our plans to live here. They'd probably heard this dream many times before, and humoured us! When we actually pitched up in 2013, they were, and always have been incredibly supportive, and we will miss them lots when they go, but at the same time are happy for them to be moving on to pursuing one of their own dreams!
I would also like to say, on behalf of Kerry and Nikos, that this does NOT mean that Ozzy Oil is closing too....although they now spend the Winters in Oz, they will be back here in San Stef as normal next year.
abbo:
Ahh that's both a shame, and very exciting for them. A lovelier couple you couldn't hope to meet, a shining example of living life to the full with a smile in your heart and for everyone they meet.
Any ideas when they will actually draws sticks?
hippopots:
abbo, they plan to leave at the end of September.
Guess what, clear blue sky and hot once again! 8)
Plenty of cars down on the beach again today, and many enjoying some sea and sand.
Tonight is a very comfortable temperature, and as we took the dog for his late night stroll through the village, plenty of people enjoying some drinks, some with music in the newer part of the village, with quite a number tonight enjoying the peace of the older part, with many sat outside Kamini and in Nafsika.
I was chatting to someone today who is here for a wedding tomorrow.
There have been quite a number here this year, but I think it would be hard to find a better setting if you want a Greek wedding.
Last week a couple came here to get married, and they'd never even visited San Stef before....just contacted Sally to plan it all for them!
We met them a few days before, and fortunately they were loving it here, then saw them just after, and they said everything was perfect! Hopefully the weather will be kind for tomorrows couple......nice and sunny, but not toooooo hot ;)
cabmufc:
