Whats happenin'
Karen:
We noticed last week how full the sunbeds were, but there is a stretch of beds that aren't out (not sure who's they are as we don't use that end of the beach). Also the tide was in a lot of the time, so sunbeds appeared a bit squashed up. The beach at the far end was much wider this year, so there were many more people down there. We had a fantastic time, as always and met many people from previous years, which is always great!
hippopots:
Nice and sunny again 8)
Slightly less humid than of late, which made it feel comfortable today.
Managed to venture a little further today, if slightly tentatively!
I was brave enough to take doggy to the beach this evening, and too be fair he didn't drag me along quite as much as usual!
Many out for dinner tonight, then some heading on to bars to watch the world cup final, and some heading back to accommodation, probably to try and avoid it!
Just about every bar was showing it, and our bar of choice to watch it tonight was Condor.
I reckon there are probaby a few jublient Germans around!
And in true British tradition, now its finished, many people have headed straight to Tasty Cormer, Lubranos, and Yiannis to finish off the evening with a gyros!
Jimbo:
Great atmosphere in the Nafsika bar for the final. Shame it went to extra time, as we all had to buy more drinks!
hippopots:
A slightly cloudy start to the day, but still nice, hot, beach weather.
Had chats today with Jimbo and Mrs Jimbo, Waspman, and Gavlah, who was not looking forward to leaving this afternoon, and is already counting down to returning in September!
Just taken a short evening stroll. Thomas Bay bar busy tonight, athough it is changeover, so people coming and going. There's a very good singer in El Greco tonight, a guy with his guitar, by the name of Duffy. Had a good voice, and there were a fair few people there enjoying his music. Not someone I've heard of before, but he was pretty good to listen to.
hippopots:
Well, today started with a thunderstorm waking up a fair few people at around 4am this morning. Quite a bit of thunder and lightening, lasting for about an hour.
This resulted in a rather overcast day, but still pretty hot, and also dry. Aparently it was very wet in South Corfu today, and there was flooding in Thessalonika on the mainland, the result of an unusual July storm passing through the Balkans, so we got off lightly!
Back on the mend, so I managed to walk as far as Fantasea this evening. Glad I did, as, despite the cloud, the sun had broke through, to provide a lovely sunset and cast an orange glow over the village. Despite it being a little breezy, all the tavernas in the older part of the village were doing quite well this evening.
