Corfu Town
Where to eat?
This is a first for our website as we only usually report on tavernas we have visited, enjoyed and wish to visit again. Corfu Town is different as we don't go there every night therefore we totally rely on recommendations. A lot more cosmopolitan than San Stefanos, so if you're tired of Greek salad, Mousaka this is the place to go. Let us have your thoughts on where to eat, and if possible some photos to include.
Venetian Well
In the back streets of the old town (Campbeelo) this charming restaurant/wine bar provides a variety of European dishes. There is a different menu each night, making it popular for return visits.
Stamatis Prevezianos
Opened in 1954 and located at the Spilia end of Velissariou Street, aptly named after its owner who can still be seen cooking there today. A traditional style Greek restaurant, with family recipes bubbling away on top of the range.
Xenichtis
Just on the outskirts of the town (next to the policlinic), this restaurant has been visited by many a famous person. It is famous for its variety of steaks and French style cuisine. it is a little on the expensive side, but with the excellent food and service it is well worth it.
Corfu Pizza
Near the bandstand in the esplanade, this taverna type restaurant offers Greek food but is best known for its pizzas.
Bekious
Found in the Mandouki (Port) area, these tavernas offer excellent Greek food. This is where the locals eat, its reasonably priced and busy. Be prepared to wait for a table.
Bella Napoli
Near the Commercial Bank, this modern restaurant offers Italian cuisine, pastas and steaks.
Il Gardino
Situated opposite the archaeological museum on Vraila Street - near the Corfu Palace hotel on Garitsa Bay. This is a lovely authentic Italian restaurant offering a high standard of food and service.
